Title: Senior Data Engineer
Duration: Full-Time (Permanent)
Location: Toronto, ON- Hybrid - 4X/week in office- Friday's remote
Compensation: $130K-$135K + 15% bonus
Start Date: ASAP
Interview Process:

1st round - 2 Lead Engineers- onsite
-
2nd round - whiteboarding session onsite
Day-to-Day responsibilities:
-
Develop and maintain data engineering solutions using AWS (Glue, EMR, PySpark, etc.)
-
Participate in agile ceremonies and execute tasks independently within an Agile SDLC framework
-
Ensure code is clean, readable, and well-documented
-
Perform root cause analysis for operational incidents
-
Engage in mentoring, coaching, and promoting a culture of learning and professional development
-
Act as a liaison with business partners and peer IT teams
-
Drive continuous improvement and foster innovation through experimentation
Must-Haves:
-
5+ years of professional experience in software development
-
Undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
-
Advanced experience with at least one programming language (Python preferred; C++ and Java are assets)

Hands-on experience in AWS Data & Analytics stack, especially:

AWS EMR
-
AWS Glue
-
Lake Formation
-
Airflow
-
PySpark
-

Strong understanding of version control, testing methodologies, and Agile development practices
-
Ability to work independently, frame problems clearly, and think critically about business and technical challenges
