About the role

Sinai Health is seeking an Education Coordinator for the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care department. The Education Coordinator works collaboratively with the Education and Rounds Leads to facilitate the development, implementation, and maintenance of the education program structure, initiatives and policies designed to enhance and support palliative care opportunities provided to trainees, staff, and allied health professionals. The Education Coordinator is also responsible for the daily operational activities of the Temmy Latner Centre’s education program and supporting trainees.

In this role you will:

  • Provide administrative and strategic support for the Education program, including long-term planning, implementation of best practices, and development of program policies, procedures, and structure
  • Develop, maintain, and report on education content and resources by managing databases, online tools, newsletters, website content, and documentation to track program effectiveness
  • Coordinate education program meetings by preparing agendas and materials, managing logistics, and recording meeting notes
  • Organize and manage the day-to-day administration of the Centre’s educational training programs, including responding to inquiries and screening applicants to ensure minimum eligibility requirements are met
  • Organize and coordinate local and international electives and observerships in coordination with medical education offices of Sinai Health, the University of Toronto and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • Maintain learner rotation schedules for the Sinai Health’s Inpatient Consult Service, Temmy Latner Home-Care program, Sinai Health’s Palliative Ambulatory Clinic and Bridgepoint’s Palliative Care Unit to connect trainees with their preceptors
  • Provide orientation to all learners through email, virtual and/or in person communication
  • Develop, maintain, and report on education content and resources by managing databases, online tools, newsletters, website content, and documentation to track program effectiveness
  • Provide planning, organizational, technical, and promotional support for meetings, rounds, workshops, strategic planning sessions, continuing professional development events, continuing education activities other academic functions
  • Collaborate with Journal Club and Professional Practice Round Leads to secure accreditation for ongoing monthly rounds
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required

Job Requirements

Job Responsibilities

Mandatory

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Office Administration, Education) from a recognized college or university

  • 3 years in an education administrative/assistant position with progressive experience and responsibility

Preferred

  • Familiarity of the Canadian medical academic system

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Capacity to think critically, problem solve and make decisions as appropriate

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and meeting deadlines while working in a dynamic work environment

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects

  • Motivation and the ability to work equally well alone or as a team member

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills and the competence to handle a variety of situations with sound judgment and professional integrity

  • Solid work ethic and demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

  • Adaptability and willingness to accept new challenges

  • Motivation for both personal and professional growth

  • Strong information technology skills including excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access

  • A working knowledge of contemporary audio/visual technologies, such as videoconferencing and webcasting
