Position Overview:

We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused and compassionate company driver to support our team in transporting vulnerable individuals with disabilities to and from designated locations safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will uphold the company’s professional standards, demonstrate patience and excellent customer service while ensuring timely drop-offs/pickups, comfort and well-being of the individuals at all times.

This position may be part-time or full-time requiring flexibility in working days, evenings, and weekends, and the ability to work in varying weather and road conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate company vehicles including cars, vans, and trucks in various conditions, adhering strictly to all traffic laws and company policies
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring all safety checks and documentation are completed accurately
  • Assist with loading and unloading vulnerable individuals ensuring individuals are secure and handled professionally and with upmost safety and care
  • Plan and follow efficient travel routes using GPS and local road knowledge to minimize delays
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, trip details, and vehicle maintenance
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, management and staff members regarding schedules, delays, and updates
  • Ensure company vehicles remain clean, fueled, and well-maintained, reporting any mechanical concerns and defects promptly
  • Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional demeanor

Qualification and Skill:

  • Must have a valid MB 5F Driver's License for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Must provide a satisfactory driving record
  • Previous professional driving experience is considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and road safety regulations
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry check, and Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 months
  • A valid Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C Certification is required, may be obtained prior to start date
  • Must be compassionate, patient and show high level of care in assisting individuals with entering and exiting vehicles
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Must always demonstrate Pulford’s values, be reliable and self-motivated
  • Must be flexible and available to work varying shifts, days, evenings and weekends
  • Must have good command of English with clear verbal communication with strong interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Capable of lifting up to 30 Ibs, bending and squatting as required
  • Comfortable driving in various weather and road conditions, including winter conditions

Pulford Community Living Services Inc., a not-for-profit community based organization, was established in November 1986 in response to the closing of a guest home that threatened to leave several people homeless. On December 1, 1986, three people moved from the guest home into their own home on Fleet Avenue, assisted by Pulford.

Since 1986, Pulford has continuously provided housing and supports to persons with a developmental disability. The supports provided by P.C.L.S. Inc. and its employees are intended to encourage and facilitate, to the greatest possible extent, the individual's ability to live and grow in ways that the individual sees fit.
