About the role
WeirFoulds is seeking a Litigation Associate to join our thriving Regulatory and Media/ Defamation Practice Groups. The ideal candidate will have:
- 3-5 years of civil litigation experience, including hearing experience
- Commercial litigation, administrative and public law experience
- Media/ defamation law experience is an asset
- Excellent academic credentials
- Strong technical, legal, research and drafting skills combined with excellent organization skills
- Ability to work with lawyers at all levels and be a team player
- Able to balance competing demands as well as being self-motivated, innovative and flexible
- Ability to manage document intensive files
- Confidence to manage files and clients independently
- Demonstrated strengths in entrepreneurialism including client service, client relationships and client development
The successful candidate will work with our experienced team of lawyers on a variety of challenging and diverse matters ranging from defamation, publication bans, copyright disputes and access to information requests, to professional regulation and discipline cases, judicial reviews of government decision-making and more.
