Our Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist is a disciple of data analytics. We’re looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist to join our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia . Our head office houses Tolko’s corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement and Human Resources. This is an on-site position and remote work is not available at this time.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- 4-year undergraduate Degree or appropriate experience working in a BI role.
- Understanding of data warehouse analysis and design , with a full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modeling.
- Experience with SQL coding , and Data warehousing techniques.
- Knowledgeable on data model security and the implications and impact or various techniques such as RLS.
- Responsibilities will include engineering new data pipelines as well as supporting existing models and data delivery methods .
- Understanding of data structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Broad based business skills and a strong background in both data & analytics tools.
- Knowledge of SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI or other applicable data warehousing tools.
- Experience with Azure data platform such as Databricks, OneLake, Microsoft Fabric or SQL Server.

In this role, you will:
- Participate in the implementation and use of new BI software tools and systems. -Code, test, and document all new or modified data & analytics systems, applications, and programs.
- Develop the semantic layer, metadata, and report definitions.
- Assist in the design of data pipelines and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with BI solutions. -Follow ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system.
- Support and analyze existing software systems, data & analytics applications, operational reporting, and ETL processes that feed the data warehouses.
- Code and deploy data & analytics solutions to end users.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT teams to deliver data-driven solutions that meet business needs and objectives.
- Maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for BI processes and solutions.
- Supports a process-focused culture that enables moving data and analytics maturity level
- Build and support partnerships with the business by addressing their requirements with data driven solutions
