Our CPG GO/UP Commercial Management team is looking for a Senior Manager to join the team! You will lead and provide commercial oversight on a diverse portfolio of projects that are at various stages of the delivery lifecycle, providing stakeholder management, vendor management, and project reporting. You will also provide commercial options and strategic advice to the Director, Commercial Management, and other Metrolinx partners and leaders.
What will I be doing?
- Act as the primary representative of the owner (i.e. Metrolinx) sitting outside the project alliance, ensuring the owner’s interests, goals, and objectives are effectively communicated and upheld.
- Collaborate with alliance partners to maintain alignment with the project's overarching strategic vision and outcomes.
- Provide leadership in the development, negotiation, and management of commercial frameworks, ensuring they align with alliance principles and objectives, and adhere to Metrolinx policies and procedures to minimize corporate liability and risk throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Oversee financial management processes, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting, to ensure fiscal discipline and transparency.
- Support the development and leads the execution of the overall strategy for commercial management to ensure successful outcomes and value for money.
- Provide expertise in contractual interpretation and guidance to the alliance in the management of procurement, risk, change orders, timing, notifications, and dealing with disagreements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
- Effectively deal with significant commercial issues, including complex engineering, operational and business challenges to ensure the completion of key projects and strategies.
- Foster strong relationships with alliance partners, stakeholders, and key project participants to promote trust, collaboration, and mutual accountability.
- Participate in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation efforts, ensuring risks are managed in a way that aligns with the alliance’s risk-sharing framework.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and oversee their monitoring to ensure the project delivers agreed-upon value for all stakeholders.
- Provide regular, transparent reporting to the owner and alliance leadership on project progress, commercial performance, and any emerging issues.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, engineering, construction management, or a related field. Advanced qualifications (e.g. masters) in business, commercial management, accounting, finance, engineering, are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial management and administration of major construction/infrastructure contracts in a public sector environment. Training or accreditation in alliance contracting or collaborative project delivery is beneficial.
- Sound knowledge and proven experience of commercial management and contract administration principles, procedures, and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of contract administration and project delivery using alliance contracting terms & risk transfers and an understanding of relevant contract law/regulations.
- Relevant certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and/or Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) designation would be an asset.
- Ability to plan, set priorities, schedule, and manage deliverables for immediate and future needs.
- Skilled in managing complex stakeholder relationships and fostering collaboration in an alliance environment.
