What is the opportunity?
The Senior Manager , Canadian Insurance Finance acts as the liaison between Canadian Insurance Finance (Cdn Finance) and other business functional areas (e.g. International Insurance Finance[ Finance Information Technology (IT) Integrated Close Process Team(ICP), Global Risk Management Insurance (GRMI), Financial Shared Services (FSS Insurance) amongst others) on the development and revision of financial process flows.
This role will provide financial decision support for Canadian Insurance leadership by presenting financial analysis and actionable management information to enable profitable and efficient management of the business. As a member of the planning team, consolidate and report complex financial short-term and long-term planning, forecast & sensitivity models for all Canadian product lines.
What will you do?
- Direct and facilitate the development and production of the annual financial plan, forecasts and expense budget of product lines using drivers and trends to identify values and opportunities. Prepare and continuously improve monthly financial advisory package to highlight and focus on management’s most pressing issues that pose opportunities or risks to the business objectives.
- Enhance and redevelop the reporting of Insurance KPIs and drivers of profitability to enable business insights and decisions support
- Work with GRMI to enhance monthly reporting using Earnings by Source (EBS) and Accounting view reports. Support the redesign of balance sheet roll forward schedules
- Analyze actual and/or projected results; updating forecasts to provide executives, finance leaders and management team with timely assessments on variances and issues to be addressed. Coordinate the annual plan process for Cdn Finance.
- Working with Director of Finance, direct the development and production of financial management reports specific to the product lines including performance metrics.
- Having developed a deep understanding of the various businesses, act as the liaison between the Cdn Finance teams and Performance Management providing proactive, value-added advice and guidance to the line of business senior management teams.
- Act as the financial liaison for the business on issues dealing with compliance, taxation, accounting policy, and business cases.
- Manage the expense gap reporting process and related analysis
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- 7+ years of Insurance industry experience in a progressively senior finance role.
- Post-secondary education and completion of a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA) or MBA or equivalent experience.
- Solid experience across financial analytic systems
- Solid understanding of Insurance products and a moderate understanding of how actuarial liabilities are developed.
- Excellent working knowledge of all Windows based software with exceptional Excel skills
- Must possess strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong competencies in teamwork and cooperation.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
