What You’ll Do The Systems Architect Director role is to strategically design and implement in-house information systems and networked software architectures that support core organizational functions and assure their high availability. This individual will gain organizational commitment for all systems and software plans, as well as evaluate and select all technologies required to complete those plans. In addition, the Systems Architect Director provides technical leadership across the organization, from strategic decision making to the project planning level.

Location: Open to a candidate working out of our Toronto, Halton Hills or Vancouver, B.C. This role is required to work in-branch 4 days per week subject to the Company’s branch policy and operational requirements

Responsibilities: Strategy & Planning

  • Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate systems and software.
  • Ensure that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to Systems Analysts, Systems Engineers, and software development teams.
  • Develop, document, and communicate plans for investing in systems architecture, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Where applicable, design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems.
  • Document the company’s existing systems architecture and technology portfolio; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives.
  • Review new and existing systems design projects and procurement or outsourcing plans for compliance with standards and architectural plans.

Operational Management

  • Confer with end-users, clients, or senior management to define business requirements for complex systems and infrastructure development.
  • Model business and systems processes based on findings through use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models.
  • Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and manage a systems capacity plan.
  • Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a policy for standardizing systems and software as necessary.
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team.

  • Security & Compliance Focused: You understand cybersecurity principles, data privacy laws, and regulatory requirements, ensuring all solutions meet compliance and security standards.
  • Values-Driven Innovator: You believe technology should empower people and organizations. You’re passionate about collaboration, integrity, and excellence while fostering a positive, forward-thinking work environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems ( Master’s preferred).
  • Enterprise/Solution Architecture certification or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in IT architecture and systems design.
  • Proven experience in strategic architecture planning and project management.
  • Strong background in requirements analysis, system/network design, and application development.
  • Expertise in enterprise applications (SAP, Microsoft) and programming languages (including Agentic AI).
  • Solid knowledge of operating systems, protocols, standards, and cybersecurity.
  • Familiarity with software evaluation, data privacy laws, and emerging technologies.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to create clear technical documentation and present to executives.
  • Collaborative team player; able to prioritize in high-pressure environments.
  • Willingness to work extended hours for projects/upgrades; capable of handling computer equipment.

In adherence to the principle of pay transparency, we are pleased to disclose the base pay for this full-time position at Metrie . The base pay range for this role is set at $145,000−$165,000. It is important to note that this position may also qualify for discretionary bonuses or commissi on payments. The specific base pay within the range will be contingent upon an individual's skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Furthermore, it is essential to highlight that our remuneration ranges are established based on the role, level, and location.
