Career Opportunity

We are currently seeking to hire 2 temporary Coorindators as Accounts Payable, Specialized Desk in our Finance department.

What You Will Do

As the Coordinator, Accounts Payable – Specialized Desk you will be responsible for processing complex and specialized invoices and payments beyond general goods and services. This includes invoices and payments related to Project Procurement Contracts, Cheque Requests, System Contracts, Purchasing Cards, Foreign Invoices, Rent, Utilities, Customs & Brokerage, and Purchase Order (PO) related payments which may include three-way matching against purchase orders and goods receipts.

In addition, you will ensure that HST, GST, and PST are applied correctly based on invoice requirements and that non-purchase order payments are made within Procurement & Category Management (PCM) terms and guidelines. As well ensure the correct application of Withholding Tax; Liens, Holdback and Contract Retainage are correctly applied to all Certificate of Payments; and/or ensure TTC is in compliance with the Prompt Payment and Construction Act.

As the subject matter expert for a Specialized Desk, the Coordinator is also responsible for developing, maintaining and documenting specialized procedures for their own portfolio to support training and business continuity.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Completion of post-secondary courses in basic accounting, combined with several years of experience in a similar environment using an automated financial system; or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable principles, practices, and procedures; and knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong customer service skills to work with various outside organizations.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze various forms of data.
  • Proficiency in computer applications relevant to the work, including Microsoft Excel and Word and relevant accounting/financial systems.
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or as a team member in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with multiple deadlines;
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
