About the role
Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC) is seeking an Accounts Payable Coordinator to join the Finance team in a fast-paced, challenging, and exciting work environment. The ideal candidate for this position will have 2-3 years of experience in an Accounts Payable role with similar responsibilities. The Accounts Payable Coordinator is responsible for executing Accounts Payable activities and reports to the Finance Manager at EFC. Key responsibilities include: processing payments to suppliers, administering expense claims, and administering disbursements related to programs being funded by the Administration Funds.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable Duties

Oversee and maintain the accrual system for purchase orders.

Process and balance invoices with purchase orders, expense claims, release and balance cheques, and process batch reports and purchase journals.

Review and process employee expense claims and upload expense batches to the accounting system.

Administer invoice payments in both Canadian and US dollars.

Prepare weekly EFT for dual authorization and once authorized, prepare EFT file to be uploaded to online banking.

Print and verify cheques.

Maintain accounts payable journals, subledgers, registers and void cheques file and update the accounts payable system.

Prepare adjustments as required to ensure ledgers are accurate and current.

Respond to accounts payable inquiries.

Identify cost recovery items, prepaid expenses, and capital assets, and notify the Finance Supervisor to initiate invoicing processor prepare reclass entries.
Other Activities
- Act as a back-up for Accounts Payable Coordinator (Pooled Income Funds) and the Inventory Coordinator during their absence.
- Assist with requests for analysis of information, annual audit and other ad-hoc assignments.
- Responsible for general filing of invoices and other relevant accounts payable information.
Qualifications/Skills:
General Knowledge
- Understanding of general accounting principles.
- Requires specific knowledge of standardized work methods, tools, processes and approaches related to accounts payable.
- Ability to read and understand financial documents.
- Ability to use various software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office).
- Writing skills are required to prepare reports, record information and communicate with other staff with respect to accounts payable issues.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum: 1 year post-secondary training in accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 – 3 years experience in an accounts payable role with similar responsibilities.
Working Conditions:
- A standard workweek schedule working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Frequent interactions with vendors and stakeholders.
- Position requires prolonged periods of sitting, use of a computer, and close attention to detail.
- Position involves access to sensitive information, requiring discretion and confidentiality.
