About the role

The Big White Retail Department is seeking qualified applicants to work as Bootfitters in Dizzy's Ski & Board Shop for the upcoming winter season. Successful applicants should have at least 12 months' prior experience in this or a related field (e.g. podiatry, shoemaking).

A sound knowledge of stance analysis as it relates to skiing and snowboarding is essential. Applicants must have the ability to construct posted custom footbeds and be capable of boot modification as required.

Duties include:

  • Performing stance analysis
  • Making orthotic corrections
  • Grinding and stretching boot materials
  • Cuff alignments
  • Performing stance alignment
  • Refurbishing and repairing all manner of ski/ snowboard footwear
  • Preparing and posting custom orthotics (footbeds), including selecting suitable lasts, fastening custom insoles to lasts and gluing parts into place
  • Dealing directly with customers to obtain the information necessary to perform the above duties
  • Estimate footwear repair costs and take payment
  • Keeping work areas clean and tidy at all times
  • Comply with all established department and company policies, procedures and code of ethics
  • Uphold the highest standard of internal and external customer service levels at all times

Required qualifications/attributes:

  • Previous experience in bootfitting (or podiatry, orthotics, or shoemaking) is essential
  • Professional attitude
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be approachable, dependable and a strong team player
  • Must be able to deal with people of all ages in a friendly manner and with patience
  • Ability to use computer applications

Desirable (but non-essential) attributes:

  • Knowledge of ski and snowboard equipment
  • Knowledge of the different lasts and fits from all ski and snowboard boot manufacturers
  • Working knowledge of the local area
  • Cash handling experience

Location: Dizzy's Ski & Board Shop at Big White Ski Resort

Duration: This position will commence at the start of Big White's ski season (early November 2026) and will finish late March/early April 2027.

Hours: Full-time.

(We endeavor to provide between 28-40 hours work per week, however, there may be times when you are required to work more or fewer hours than this.)

Wages: $20-$23/hour. Wages will be determined according to prior experience and skill evaluation.

Accommodation: Staff accommodation may be available for approved applicants.

Candidate selection and interviews will begin in June 2026.
