Location: Downtown Vancouver – Transcend Specialized Dentistry
Position Type: Full-time (4–5 days/week)
Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (No evenings or weekends)
Salary Range: Starting at $24–$32 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterilization Assistant to join our multi-specialty dental practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in dental sterilization protocols and infection control procedures, with a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while supporting our clinical team.
Key Responsibilities Sterilization and Infection Control
- Managing the complete sterilization cycle for all dental instruments and equipment
- Operating and maintaining autoclaves and other sterilization equipment
- Implementing and following strict infection control protocols
- Monitoring sterilization indicators and maintaining detailed logs
- Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations
- Conducting biological monitoring tests and maintaining records
- Managing ultrasonic cleaners and instrument processing equipment
- Packaging instruments according to sterilization protocols
- Organizing and maintaining sterile storage areas
- Tracking expiration dates and rotating sterile supplies
Clinical Support and Room Management
- Setting up and turning over operatories between procedures
- Restocking operatories with supplies and materials
- Chairside assisting during procedures with specialists when needed
- Taking digital impressions and photographs as directed
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of all clinical areas
- Ensuring all clinical and storage areas are clean, neat, and free from clutter
- Conducting equipment maintenance checks and reporting any issues promptly
- Preparing and organizing surgical kits and specialty instrument sets based on set protocols
Required Skills And Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in dental sterilization or a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and sterilization procedures
- Understanding of WHMIS and occupational health and safety standards
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise protocols
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
- Flexibility to assist with various support tasks as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Chairside dental assisting experience
- Completed radiology module (dental radiography certification)
