Title: Procurement Lead, Major Capital Projects

Location: Laval, QC and Sudbury, ON or Rouyn, QC Employment type: permanent, full-time

The role in a nutshell

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Lead, Major Capital Projects to oversee procurement excellence across a portfolio of large-scale capital projects within our mining and metallurgical operations, including Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations, Horne Smelter, CCR Copper Refinery, and CEZinc Refinery.

In this key role, you will provide strategic leadership and commercial expertise to ensure the effective delivery of approximately $250M-$300M in annual capital projects. You will oversee procurement activities from strategy development through contract execution, supplier management, logistics, and project closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

More specifically, you will be expected to

Lead the Major Capital Project Procurement function by providing strategic direction, establishing clear accountabilities, effective governance and consistent ways of working, while indirectly overseeing internal and EPCM project procurement resources. Develop and implement integrated procurement and sourcing strategies, including drafting and/or input of project procurement execution plans aligned with project scope, schedules, budgets, technical requirements, risk profiles and business objectives. Lead the end-to-end procurement and contracting process for major capital projects, including tendering, supplier evaluation, commercial analysis, negotiations, contract award, administration and supplier relationship management. Negotiate and manage contracts for capital equipment, construction, commodities, services and supplies, securing optimal commercial terms and protecting Glencore’s interests. Oversee project supply chain execution, including purchasing, expediting, inspections, customs, transportation, delivery, inventory planning and the transition of materials and equipment into operations. Monitor and manage supplier, commercial and project supply chain performance and risks, including cost, quality, schedule, delivery and compliance, and implement corrective, mitigation and contingency actions as required. Ensure compliance with Glencore policies, procedures, standards, Delegation of Authority and applicable legal and regulatory requirements, while providing procurement reporting, commercial advice and recommendations to project and senior leadership. Coach and develop procurement personnel, advise project stakeholders and contribute to regional, site and Group procurement initiatives.

Do you have what it takes? University degree in Supply Chain, Business, Commerce, Engineering, or a related field. 15+ years of procurement and supply chain experience within mining, metals, construction, heavy industry, or other complex project environments. Direct experience leading procurement for large-scale capital projects and managing multimillion-dollar contracts. Extensive experience in strategic sourcing, contract management, logistics, supplier performance, and risk management. Experience working with EPCM contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional project teams. Solid commercial and financial acumen, including capital expenditure management. Proficiency with ERP and procurement systems such as SAP, Coupa, and eTendering platforms. Advanced negotiation, stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.

Travel: Travel is expected to be up to 15%, including visits to project sites, operating areas, supplier locations and vendor audits. Language: Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English is required. French-language proficiency. Location: Two positions are available: one based in Sudbury or Rouyn, and the other based in Laval. In office 5 days a week.
