Job Description
The Network Administrator will be responsible for supervising, supporting, and managing distributed LAN/WAN environments in a production environment. The Network Administrator must have an understanding of a complex combination of various technologies and operating systems and be able to design and implement network solutions.
Responsibilities
- Monitor service management systems to ensure that operational issues are properly addressed;
- Ensure compliance with standard practices within the team, including security and other company IT policies;
- Participate in on-call scheduling for after-hours escalations;
- Design and implement new infrastructure as part of projects;
- Proactively recommend projects based on monitoring, prior expertise, and hardware knowledge;
- Work closely with counterparts to ensure the definition and strict adherence to technology standards, both locally and globally;
- Work with the production architecture group to gather requirements, design, and deploy network infrastructure;
- Work with members of the system support team to resolve complex, multi-platform issues;
- Provide Level 3/4 support for the company's Wi-Fi, LAN, MAN, and WAN infrastructures.
Qualifications
- 20 years of relevant experience;
- Experience supporting market access and trading infrastructure environments;
- Proficiency in ITP policies and procedures, including change controls;
- In-depth knowledge of network management products and proficiency in standard ITP monitoring tools such as Micro Focus or HP Network Automation, Zabbix, and Solarwinds;
- Good understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals and detailed knowledge of network technologies such as Metro Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, DWDM, TDM;
- In-depth understanding of routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, IP Multicast, PIM, IGMP, DHCP, and DNS;
- Experience working with optical systems, specifically ADVA supporting 10G, 40G, 100G, and FC;
- Detailed knowledge of Cisco products, including Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching platforms, Cisco ISR and ASR routing platforms, and Juniper EX switches;
- Ability to provide 24/7 support;
Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of English is required, as the position involves communicating with teams outside Quebec.
