The Opportunity
We’re looking for a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Black’s Pub. In this leadership role, you’ll work closely with our Head Chef to execute high-quality dishes, inspire a dynamic kitchen crew, and help elevate our food program to new heights.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, loves working with fresh and sustainable ingredients, and takes pride in delivering an outstanding dining experience from morning to late night.

What You Bring to the Table
- 2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or similar leadership role
- Strong understanding of cooking methods, equipment, ingredients, and kitchen procedures
- Proven track record of effective kitchen and staff management
- Ability to work quickly and calmly in emergency or high-pressure situations
- Knowledge of industry best practices—experience in the Whistler dining scene is an asset
- Familiarity with restaurant management software (e.g., BevSpot), Word, and POS systems
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to inspire a team
- Passion for food quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement
Your Days Will Look Like
- Lead daily food preparation and service alongside the Head Chef.
- Create high-quality dishes with strong attention to taste, presentation, and consistency.
- Support, train, and supervise kitchen staff to maintain high performance.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and uphold all food safety standards.
- Assist with menu planning, ordering, and managing inventory levels.
- Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment to ensure smooth operations.
- Contribute creative ideas to elevate the food program and kitchen efficiency.
- Troubleshoot issues in the kitchen, ensuring fast, effective problem-solving.
