Employment Status Part Time Employment Type Fixed Term Job Summary
Under the direction of the Regional Principal, Manager or designate, the Custodian will be responsible to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the campus as the primary focus of the role. The job description for the Custodian is standardized so is applicable to all regional campuses with some slight variation between locations.
Specific Duties
- Ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of all areas (inside and outside) of their designated campus, including but not limited to floor maintenance, disinfection of various areas, and general waste removal.
- Cleaning floors, stairwells, washrooms, shower rooms, walls, ceilings, windows, furniture, and appliances.
- Restocking of custodial supplies and paper products as required.
- Operate commercial cleaning equipment.
- Ensuring premises are secure, locking doors and windows.
- Perform minor maintenance, and report other maintenance issues or damage as required.
- Clean and perform minor & scheduled maintenance on custodial equipment.
- Use automatic chemical dispensing systems.
- Open classroom doors as directed.
- Assist students and the public with directions.
- Assist with event set up including moving tables, chairs and equipment.
- Assist with snow removal and de-icing, as required.
- Assist with emergency procedures, not limited to, fire alarms and emergency evacuation.
- Professionalism in understanding that daily tasks may change on short notice, as unique situations occasionally arise.
- You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners.
- You will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
- Other related duties as assigned by Supervisor or designate
Skills & Qualifications

Minimum Grade 10 completion
-
1 year or more previous experience in institutional custodial work

Building Services Worker, I and II certification an asset.

Occupational First Aid training preferred; level of training will be campus dependent.

Level 2 OFA required at Quesnel Campus
-
Knowledge of custodial equipment and chemicals used.

Experience interpreting information on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
-
Training as required by WorkSafeBC.
-
Bonding and a criminal records check may be required.

Ability to organize workload in an efficient manner.
-
Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to work within and contribute to a proactive team environment.

Physical ability to complete the job demands.
