Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Provincial Patient Safety Lead, the Application Administrator provides overall administrative support, technical support and direction to the users of the RL6 occurrence reporting software. The incumbent is assigned the highest level system administrator rights and oversees application administration for the provincial RL system.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a health information environment with a focus on health information acquisition, health information analysis and reporting, data management and the promotion of data quality and integrity. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with software application administration.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Successful completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science or a related field. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.

SPECIAL TRAINING:

Completion of a certificate in Quality Management/Patient Safety is an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications And Skills

The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework. Knowledge in quality and patient safety assessment and performance measurement with both qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis and presentation. Experience with different quality improvement tools including; LEAN Six Sigma, PDSA, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis and peer reviewed literature is an asset. Excellent verbal communication skills are required to effectively present complex, controversial or sensitive information to stakeholders. Demonstrated effective presentation and instructional skills. Excellent written communication skills are required to produce correspondence for a variety of audiences, including all levels of staff and leadership. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, including internal and external stakeholders. Ability to communicate sensitive information verbally and in writing with patients, families and the public. Experience in change management, including implementing and managing change at an organizational level is an asset. Experience working under pressure of deadlines and responding to competing priorities to achieve defined customer service levels. Experience identifying, analyzing and solving complex problems in a timely manner. Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work flexible hours as required to accommodate service requirements of facilities and the provincial system. Overtime may be required. Travel throughout the province requiring a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle.
