Location: This position is located at Regional HQ, Whitby, Ontario
Environmental Engineer - Infrastructure Analytics
Reporting to the Project Engineer, Infrastructure Analytics, the incumbent will be responsible
for:
• Developing, maintaining and calibrating hydraulic models for the Region's drinking water, wastewater, and storm sewer systems
• Providing hydraulic modelling services for various purposes such as energy optimization of water supply operations, effective hydrant flushing activities; and simulation of potential facility upgrade scenarios
• Supporting Operations staff with modelling support to manage abnormal system issues in the water distribution system caused by facility power outages, watermain breaks, etc
• Reviewing distribution and collection system operation and recommending improvements
• Project management of small engineering and capital projects related the Regional water/wastewater systems
• Project management of engineering studies including Inflow and infiltration studies, leak detection and mitigation studies
• Supervise technical staff working on water conservation and energy efficiency programs
• Working in accordance with the provisions of applicable health and safety legislation and
allcorporate/departmental policies and procedures related to occupational health and safety
• Developing and delivering operational training to Regional Staff
The successful applicant will posess:
• A post-secondary degree in Engineering or a related field
• Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario
• Experience in hydraulic system modelling and municipal water and wastewater systems
• Formal training in water distribution and wastewater collection network modeling
• Project management experience related to Municipal water/wastewater
• Experience related to municipal water conservation programs
• Experience related to leak detection and water loss control principles
• Experience related to energy management within municipal water and wastewater systems
• Excellent skills in the areas of leadership, analysis, problem solving and engineering judgement
• Excellent computer skills working with Infowater Pro, Infoworks ICM, ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to explain complex technical issues using common and familiar terms that a non-technical audience can understand
• Valid Class 'G' driver's license and use of a reliable vehicle
Management & Exempt Salary Grade 6
- Salary: $105,922 to $132,402 per annum
