About the role

Sacred Heart Catholic School is located in Williams Lake, BC. The school enrolls approximately 110 students from Kindergarten to Grade Seven. For the 2026 - 2027 school year, we are seeking a skilled, qualified candidate to join our team as a 1.0 FTE Elementary School Principal. This position commences August 1,2026 and concludes July 31, 2027, however, continuation into a permanent position may be possible based on performance. The Principal has a critical role to play in supporting the mission, vision and values in the life of this Catholic school community and works collaboratively with the Administrative team of the school under the direction of the Superintendent.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess:

  • active membership in a Catholic parish
  • a demonstrated commitment to and passion for excellence in Catholic education
  • a minimum of 5 successful years prior elementary level teaching experience, preferably within BC Catholic

schools

  • a strong understanding and application of CISKD and BC Ministry of Education priorities, policies and procedures
  • experience using innovative teaching methods in primary and intermediate classrooms, including remote

learning experiences and the ability to support and supervise others

  • model and assist in the supervision of teachers related to best practice in instructional planning, assessment and evaluation
  • a commitment to ongoing professional development aligned with school, Ministry and CISKD priorities
  • the ability to adapt practice when faced with the ever-shifting needs of today's education system
  • a valid TRB certification
  • the commitment to provide leadership of extracurricular activities
  • a Master's degree in related educational field of study, or whom have commenced or are about to commence these studies

Additional requirements (can be completed following employment):

  • BC Catholic School Leadership Course
  • Foundations of the Faith Program
  • Further evidence of lifelong learning
