Job Description Position Summary Reporting to the Registered Nurse/Clinical Care Coordinator and Director of Care, the Licensed Practical Nurse assists in the planning, assessing, implementation, and evaluation of holistic resident care within the standards of practice as outlined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC and within the current legislative scope of practice.

Responsibilities

  • The main purpose of jobs at this level is to perform Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) duties within the competency guidelines and standards of practice outlined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC, the current defined scope of practice, and employer policies within an acute or community healthcare setting.
  • The Level 1 Nurse (LPN) provides nursing services and interventions to patients, clients, and/or residents with stable and predictable health status, based on assessment and care planning procedures, and within the LPN scope of practice. LPNs coordinate health services and provide support in activities of daily living, including administering medication.
  • Work involves collaboration with RN/RPNs and/or immediate supervisor when patient, client, and/or resident condition is no longer stable and predictable, or the care is outside the LPN scope of practice. The position is responsible for providing safety and health information to individuals and their families, sharing work-related information with others, demonstrating clinical tasks, and providing guidance to others.
  • Work is frequently performed under a variety of working conditions which may include exposure to hazards, disease, and inclement weather.
  • Participates in safety programs and follows OH&S directives relating to transfers, lifts, infection control, WCB, and Fire Safety.
  • Assists in the orientation of new employees.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current full practicing licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of B.C. (CPLBC)

  • Competence to type and effectively utilize a variety of computer software applications.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency to communicate effectively in English - both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out duties of this position.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.

Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $32.84 to $37.10 with a maximum of $41.35.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
