Position Title: Technology Specialist, Information Security

Reports To: Senior Technology Manager, Information Security

Department: IT Security and BCP

Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

This role is ideal for a security generalist with experience across all aspect of Identity Access Team Management (IAM), an understanding of technology, and a passion to work collaboratively with teams to support security across the organization. Join our IAM Team as a Technology Specialist, where you’ll leverage your IAM expertise to strengthen and advance our organization’s security posture. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of deploying and refining IAM solutions, ensuring our access controls are robust, compliant, and efficient. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience managing user access, automating identity processes using PowerShell, and ensuring compliance with security polices. You will help ensure the security and integrity of the IT systems and processes of Equitable.

What you will be doing:

  • Provision and deprovision user accounts across Active Directory (AD), Azure AD, Microsoft 365 and other enterprise systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize PowerShell scripts to automate IAM tasks, such as user onboarding/offboarding and role assignments.
  • Collaborate with IT, security, and compliance teams to ensure IAM aligns with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Support the administration of identity governance tools (e.g., Microsoft Entra, OKTA, etc.)
  • Manage onboarding/offboarding of accounts and conduct periodic access reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to internal teams on IAM best practices
  • Work with internal teams to gather access requirements and implement least privilege access.
  • Monitor and resolve IAM-related incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain documentation and standard operating procedures related to IAM workflows and scripts.

What you will bring:

  • 1+ years of experience in Identity Access Management or related IT field.
  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting, including creating, debugging and optimizing custom scripts.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Azure AD, and group policy management.
  • Understanding of IAM principles (least privilege, RBAC, access certification)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
