COMPANY OVERVIEW
The Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is a joint venture owned by three Prairie centrals created to digitally transform and modernize payment services for credit unions in the Prairies. PPJV’s goal is to ensure prairie credit unions are competitive in payments and have access to efficient, modernized payments processing infrastructure. PPJV invites candidates to apply from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.
ROLE SUMMARY:
Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is undergoing a payments modernization initiative and requires an experienced payments Application Support Analyst who will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of PPJV’s payments software applications, software and databases. The Application Support Analyst focuses on diagnosing and resolving application issues, coordinating deployments, and providing responsive support across production and test environments.
Working closely with the Manager, Application Development and the Application Development Team, the Application Support Analyst supports both legacy and modern systems that underpin PPJV’s credit union payments infrastructure. The Application Support Analyst requires strong troubleshooting skills, a proactive approach to incident resolution, and a commitment to maintaining service levels through On-Call support and change management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Investigate and resolve application issues across PPJV’s payment systems (e-Transfer, Bill Pay, Cheque, Wires, AFT). Perform root cause analysis, document solutions and implement fixes to ensure system stability.
- Coordinate and execute deployments for all IT changes, including patches, upgrades, and configuration updates. Ensure proper documentation and rollback plans are in place.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support as part of a rotating schedule to ensure rapid incident response and minimal service disruption.
- Maintain and enhance monitoring systems to proactively detect issues. Respond to alerts and take corrective actions to maintain performance and availability.
- Work closely with developers, quality assurance, and business teams to ensure smooth transitions from development to production. Participate in release planning and post-deployment reviews.
- Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation for support procedures, known issues, and resolution steps.
- Support reporting needs using tools like Power BI. Assist in data validation and performance tuning of reporting queries.
- Identify opportunities to improve support processes, reduce incident frequency, and enhance system reliability.
- Create user guides, write procedures for system use, and analyze reports on application performance and errors.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in application support or IT support roles, preferably within financial services or payments systems.
- Familiar with Azure Devops for code management.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience resolving issues in .NET-based applications and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Familiarity with deployment tools and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience supporting applications built with React or Angular is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, including query optimization and troubleshooting stored procedures.
- Experience with monitoring tools and incident management platforms.
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and troubleshooting integration.
- Experience with Power BI for reporting and dashboard support.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as JIRA.
NOTE: This is a mostly remote role with occasional travel to the office when needed. Preferred location: Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba, or Greater Toronto Area, ON.
