Position: SNAP Field Team Leader
Organization: Surrey's Natural Areas Partnership (SNAP)
Location: Surrey, BC
- Term: May 1st – August 21st, 2026 (potential to stay on through the fall term)
- Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday – Friday (with occasional weekend work)
- Compensation: $26.05/hour

Position Description Lead and implement ecological restoration and enhancement projects in Surrey parks by removing invasive plants, maintaining planting sites, removing litter and refuse and providing shade tree maintenance. You will report to the SNAP Program Manager and supervise a small team in this field-based position. This position requires lots of flexibility and will involve community work with youth and volunteers.
Duties
- Assist with the supervision, training and evaluation of team members
- Maintain accurate daily records, track project deliverables and provide updates to supervisor
- Communicate with the public as an ambassador of SNAP and our partner organizations
- Ensure work is completed in a safe manner and complete other related duties as required
Desired Qualifications

Post-secondary study in a related field such as urban forestry, geography, biology, arboriculture or environmental studies

Ability to perform repetitive, physical work outdoors in all weather conditions, and ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
-
Strong work ethic and initiative, able to effectively manage multiple priorities and adapt to change within a fast-paced environment
-
Supervisory and/or leadership experience, strong time management and organizational skills
-
Strong public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal)
-
Knowledge of ecological principles, ability to identify local native and invasive plants and common shade trees
-
Willingness to work occasional weekends and have full availability for the duration of the work-term (4 or 7 months)
-
Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license (or equivalent) with a safe driving history, and willingness to submit a driver’s abstract
-
Valid Level 1 First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of employment)

Completion of a Police Information Check will be required as a condition of employment

As a condition of pending Canada Summer Jobs program funding (note, these criteria are subject to change):
-
be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
-
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment

have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada and BC
