Role Summary
The Workforce Scientist modernizes how work gets done by combining Industrial/Organizational Psychology, AI enablement, and analytics product thinking. This role identifies where humans and AI collaborate best, using technology‑augmented job analysis and skills‑based workforce planning to uncover opportunities for automation and augmentation. In parallel, you’ll drive platform modernization of our analytics ecosystem: defining analytics‑user personas, shaping prioritized roadmaps for dashboards/reports/lightweight models, and ensuring solutions are designed for automation, scale, and integration with enterprise platforms. You will translate research into human‑centered products and workflow changes, collaborating across HR, Technology, and business leaders to deliver measurable human–AI outcomes aligned to our modernization strategy.
Tasks
Job Analysis & Workforce Research
- Conduct job analyses and persona development using modern, technology‑augmented methods, including NLP techniques to rapidly extract and cluster tasks from job descriptions, interviews, and observational data.
- Design and execute mixed‑methods studies (survey instruments + interviews/observations) to identify task frequency, variability, and criticality for workforce planning.
- Build skills‑based workforce plans that inform short-, medium-, and long-term talent strategies.
Human–AI Interaction & Enablement
- Identify and design AI augmentation opportunities grounded in evidence-based I/O Psychology principles.
- Develop implementation playbooks for integrating AI into workflows, ensuring alignment with governance and risk standards.
- Partner with other data scientists and engineers to develop lightweight integrations (e.g., API-based LLM solutions for HR processes).
Analytics & Data Modernization
- Enhance dashboards, reports, and predictive models for automation, scalability, and usability using tools like Power BI/Tableau and scripting languages (Python/R/SQL).
- Apply data governance and platform integration practices in collaboration with technology teams.
Collaboration & Influence
- Act as a bridge between HR, business leaders, and technology teams to prioritize initiatives based on value and feasibility.
- Communicate complex technical concepts in clear, actionable language for non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
- Graduate degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Behavioral Economics, Data Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in job analysis and skills-based workforce planning.
- Proficiency in mixed-methods research (survey design, statistical analysis, interviews, focus groups).
- Familiarity with NLP techniques for qualitative data processing and rapid job analysis.
- Strong data literacy and ability to work with structured/unstructured data; experience with Power BI/Tableau and scripting languages (Python/R/SQL).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to influence across HR, business, and technology.
- Knowledge of AI/Model governance frameworks and risk management processes in large highly-regulated financial institutions.
Uses advanced analytical algorithms and technologies (e.g. machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence) to mine and analyze large sets of structured and unstructured data to obtain insights. Designs and constructs new processes for modeling data. Develops predictive models and leverages big data technology to design solutions that deliver smarter business decisions, improve customer experience, and drive productivity. Collaborates with other data and analytics professionals and teams to optimize, refine and scale analysis into mature analytics solutions.
- Plays an active role in the futuristic display of data, and advancement of innovative data strategies to understand consumer trends and address business problems.
- Uses data mining and extracting usable data from valuable data sources to assess feasibility of AI/ML solutions for improved processing and usage of organization data.
- Conducts large-scale analysis of information to discover patterns and trends by combining different modules and algorithms.
- Uses analysis to provide recommendations and advice for business leaders to maintain to maintain market competitiveness.
- Develops prediction systems and machine learning algorithms. Investigates additional technologies and tools for developing innovative data solutions for business stakeholders.
- Collaborate together with the product team and partners to understand and provide data-driven decision making, business planning and future roadmap.
- Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
- Implements changes in response to shifting trends.

$103,200.00 - $192,000.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
