Based in Huntsville, ON, the Health and Safety Officer will report to the Health and Safety Manager and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on ensuring a safe work environment for all TULLOCH employees.

What You’ll Do:
As part of the Health and Safety team, you will:

  • Play a key role in the implementation of TULLOCH’s overall Health and Safety Program.
  • Develop, implement, and follow-up on Standard Operating Procedures, Policies, and Processes to meet the multi-disciplined needs of the company while ensuring compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Create, enroll, and deliver Health and Safety training programs.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow Health and Safety Officers, Health and Safety Representatives, and Joint Health and Safety Committees.
  • Provide advice, strategies, and solutions to managers and supervisors on all Health and Safety topics.
  • Gather, organize, analyze, and report Health and Safety statistics to management.
  • Facilitate Health and Safety concerns, incidents, and investigations in co-operation with other Health and Safety members, employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Proactively identify recommendations and develop plans that will contribute to a safe working environment for our employees while supporting the administration of our Health and Safety programs.
  • Support Project Managers in the contract pre-qualification process.
  • Review scopes of work to determine job requirements for the preparation of Health and Safety plans, job hazard analysis, and emergency response plans.
  • Lead and facilitate the project hazard analysis and risk assessment process across all project disciplines.
  • Conduct effective ergonomic analysis of the workplace and implement required improvements or adjustments, as necessary.
  • Oversee workplace inspections and conduct field audits.
  • Travel as required to support safety meetings, training, assessments, audits, and project requirements.

What You Should Bring:
The ideal candidate will have a postsecondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related program. Additionally, you should bring:

  • 7-10 years of experience working in an Occupational Health and Safety role
  • Thorough knowledge of Provincial Health and Safety Acts, Codes, and Regulations
  • Health and Safety accreditation or working towards professional designation (CRSP, NCSO, or equivalent)
  • Unwavering commitment to health and safety in the workplace
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate data to make sound recommendations on health and safety matters
  • Radiation Safety experience
  • High motivation with results-oriented focus
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including delivery of training presentations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365/Office Suite
  • Valid Class G driver’s licence
  • Experience with COR (Certificate of Recognition) is an asset.
  • Experience in surveying, engineering, mining, or construction is an asset
