About the role

Job Description Reporting to the Project Director, Facility Modernization and Improvement, you will ensure that all technical documentation is completed in accordance with the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) project quality requirements, while adhering to established budgetary (capital and service costs) and scheduling constraints. You will be tasked with preparing construction packages for electrical installations, including technical information, required materials, and labour resources. More precisely, you will:

  • Participate in project planning by assessing electrical requirements and proposing appropriate solutions.
  • Define technical specifications for the electrical equipment required for the project.
  • Select appropriate electrical equipment based on project requirements, applicable regulations, and industry standards.
  • Develop documentation related to electrical repair and installation activities for NSS construction project.
  • Assign and manage engineering bill of materials to ensure clear visibility of required materials for planning.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of all drawings, sketches, and other required documentation.
  • Provide information and data for cost estimates and bid submissions as needed.
  • Support the development of technical documentation related to subcontractor electrical activities.
  • Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable safety and quality standards.
  • Supervise the installation of electrical equipment on site.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of electrical installations, including diagrams, test reports, certificates of compliance.
  • Ensure installations comply with electrical safety regulations, energy efficiency standards, and accessibility requirements.
  • Identify and lead the lockout/tagout (LOTO) process to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Prepare progress reports, update project schedules, and report any issues affecting the timely delivery of project deliverables.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with other project professionals, such as architects and engineers.
  • Perform other related duties, as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Be a registered member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Ability to work confidently and independently while prioritizing a high volume of work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Successfully complete the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government’s Contract Security Program.
