About Ayrshire

Ayrshire (“Air shire”) is an Alberta based investment management firm that has a focused strategy of investing in real property and related operating companies. The firm originated in the late 1990’s as a family office for its Executive Chairman, Phil Swift, who is a co founder of ARC Financial – one of Canada’s largest energy focused private equity firms. The leadership team has transacted, developed, or helped manage $10 billion of real estate assets and have been principals or advisors on over $10 billion of corporate transactions and investments.

Ayrshire is presently deploying capital through a series of real estate private equity funds into multifamily acquisitions and developments throughout western Canada. These funds utilize CMHC debt financing, grant capital, expedited permitting, preleasing initiatives, vertically integrated construction, and creative partnership structures to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns alongside tangible environmental and social outcomes for our communities.

Ayrshire also invests in companies that benefit the built environment, aligned with the core value proposition of our real assets, where we can provide strategic support by levering our team’s expertise and relationships, and where potential exists to implement within our commercial portfolio or multifamily development project pipeline.

The Role & Application Process

The successful candidate will be required to help source and analyze market research to support Ayrshire’s investment committee on real estate investment opportunities. Responsibilities will include research and analysis of Canadian operating companies and real estate data, assisting in due diligence of investments as needed, assisting in preparation of investment committee documentation and presentation materials, and special projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years completed in a post-secondary degree majoring in finance, economics, accounting, or computer science
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Understanding of key financial return metrics
  • Exceptional communication skills and an ability to synthesize complex information
  • Efficient time management skills
  • High level of initiative and independence
  • Preference of applications with related prior intern experience in investment banking, private equity, real estate technology firms, investment management firms
  • Proficiency in Power BI would be considered an asset

Job Description

Data Analytics

  • Collect, analyze, and visualize numerous datasets to help inform investment decisions and support investment thesis. These datasets may include Canadian real estate transactions and performance, supply and pipeline data, private real estate performance relative to public equities, etc.
  • Synthesize and interpret datasets into meaningful conclusions to support investment thesis
  • Assist in developing management tools within Ayrshire’s investment vehicles

Research and Investments

  • Assist Investments team in ad hoc financial modelling of existing portfolio companies/assets and prospective investment opportunities
  • Conduct financial analysis
  • Assist in the research of prospective investments and opportunities in real estate and real estate related operating companies
  • Contribute to the development of investment committee presentations and reporting
  • Special projects as required
