Project Coordinator - Fort McMurray Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.

- Personal Reliable Vehicle
- CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
Pre-employment
- Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
- Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation
Project Coordinator Responsibilities
- Work closely with and assist the Project Manager and Construction Manager, where applicable, in the day to day duties of the project’s administration.
- Monitor field work, including contract work, to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications, codes and safety policies.
- Conduct quality control activities in accordance with instructions, inspection programs, using specified equipment. Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work as required.
- Assist in plan and spec analysis in order to provide clear and trackable interpretations of the design/drawings for construction.
- Research and recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences and errors /omissions.
- Act as liaison with subcontractors in expediting drawings and related information.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs (Vendor/Subcontractor, Purchase, Owner etc.), track responses and advise the Division Manager and Superintendent of the status of any changes
- Understand and perform document control functions in accordance with on-site policy and procedures, transmitting and tracking of submittals, compose agreements, and maintain project expediting list.
- Collect, review and approve daily time and productions and force accounts for projects.
- Order materials required for project. Coordinate and order rentals as required (and/or setup PO's for rentals).
- Work with job Foreman and Superintendents, ensure we are performing the work as per drawings and permits, costing the job properly.
- Compile, prepare and submit monthly job progress summaries.
- Perform locates and liaison with pipeline reps, etc. Ensure to have all applicable crossing agreements and permits. Ensure work is being carried out as per agreements.
- Attend project coordination and owner/contractor/engineer meetings as requested or required. Provide updates to schedule, progress, and issues.
- Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics. Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.
- Understand and perform document control functions in accordance with on-site policy and procedures, transmitting and tracking of submittals, compose agreements, and maintain project expediting list.
- Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
- Work with the Foreman/Safety Department to investigate damage, incidents or near misses on the worksite, and ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company’s Safety Program.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Assist in the preparation, submission, and coordination full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work including calculating complete takeoff’s. This includes participating in pre-tender meetings, obtaining tender quotations from subcontractors / vendors, and attending public tender openings.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Project Coordinator Qualifications
- A diploma in Civil Technology, Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent combinations of technical training plus a minimum of two (2) years construction experience. Membership, or the ability to register with APEGA or ASET is preferred.
- Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to discipline.
- Proficiency in organizations computer systems and software, including Civil 3D, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project. Build & Bid to Win knowledge an asset.
- Ability to assume responsibility.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to represent the company and project team in a professional manner to the client, related project staff and the community.
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as, being an independent self- starter with exceptional time management skills.
- Excellent facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills required.
- Must display and promote a continuous regard to safety.
