Aquatic Leadership & Swim Camp Coordinator

Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! The Successful Candidate Will:

Coordinate and support leadership and swim camp programs throughout the summer, including management of equipment, inventory, and test sheets.

Ensure that programs are being delivered in an engaging and educational way through program evaluations and visits, coaching staff and implementing customer feedback.

Assist with registrations for leadership courses, respond to customer inquiries, resolve escalated concerns, and support classroom management for leadership courses.

Assist in the training and orientation of aquatic staff in swim safety protocols, leadership facilitation, swim camp policies, program quality and emergency responses.

Responsible for supply orders, inventory management, test sheet submissions and completion of season cost analysis.

Respond to emergency situations and advises the Recreation Programmer on concerns relating to program activities not complying with Town bylaws, policies and procedures or Lifesaving Society standards.

Job Requirements
-
Post-secondary education in a related discipline (such as Recreation and Leisure, etc) combined with progressive experience in recreation programming and/or related equivalent experience.

Current LSS Instructor, National Lifeguard, SFA & CPR -C, LSS Examiner required. Examiner Mentor status preferred.

Experience in a supervisory role in related field.

Excellent leadership, organizational, public relations and time management skills.

Ability to work in a team environment, collaborate with co-workers and deal courteously and effectively with staff, participants, parents/guardians and the general public.

Strong working knowledge of computers in Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook); XPLOR experience is an asset.

Current High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development) certification required.

Safe Management or Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification preferred.

Class “G” Driver’s Licence in good standing and a reliable vehicle for corporate business.

Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town (Those 18 Years & Older) or the completion of Declaration of Minors – Working with Vulnerable Individuals Self Declaration Form (Those 17 Years and Younger) is required.
