POP8950 THÈMES CHOISIS EN SANTÉ DES POPULATIONS / SPECIAL TOPICS IN POPULATION HEALTH (3cr.)

Thèmes variables selon les intérêts des étudiants et des professeurs. Préalable : Approbation de l'unité scolaire. / Topics vary depending on student and professorial interests. Prerequisite: Approval of the Academic Unit.

This course is designed to help graduate students strengthen their public health research and communication skills. Students will critically analyse large-scale studies from organizations like the WHO and World Bank and explore key questions such as why some interventions work in certain settings but not in others. They will learn to write for non-specialist audiences, understand why data can tell different stories, and interpret health trends more carefully. The course also covers how research informs policy, why transparency and reproducibility matter, and how to use AI tools responsibly in health research. By the end, students will be better equipped to analyse, explain, and apply health evidence in real-world contexts.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in health sciences or equivalent. University-level teaching, Health research experience

Priority will be given to applicants with training or demonstrated health research in the course topic area: Population health theory and methodologies. Public health policy. Availability, collection and analysis of population health-related data. Policy analysis and interpretation of healthcare screening guidelines and recommendations.
