Accountant / Bookkeeper

Waterloo, ON | Hybrid Opportunity

Express Employment Professionals are currently recruiting for an Accountant / Bookkeeper on behalf of a well-established public accounting firm in Waterloo. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working with a diverse client base while being part of a collaborative and supportive team.

Responsibilities

Prepare financial statements and working papers for a variety of clients. Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and complete account reconciliations. Prepare corporate and personal tax returns and assist with tax planning initiatives. Work closely with business owners and clients to provide exceptional accounting support and service. Utilize accounting and tax software to complete engagements efficiently and accurately. Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance workflow efficiencies. Collaborate with team members to ensure deadlines are met and client expectations are exceeded. Maintain organized client files and documentation.

Qualifications

3-5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally within a public accounting environment. Experience preparing financial statements. Strong understanding of Canadian corporate and personal taxation. Experience supporting owner-managed businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and trusts is considered an asset. Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online and Desktop) and Sage. Experience with CaseWare, TaxPrep, Doc-It, or similar accounting and tax software is preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Comfortable learning and leveraging technology to improve client service and internal efficiencies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong client-service mindset.
