About the role
This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 2 days per week - subject to change at any time.
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Java Developer / Technical Lead having 10 plus years of experience to support and maintain critical enterprise applications and cloud-based microservices. This role requires strong technical expertise in Java, incident resolution, and experience leading onshore and offshore teams. The ideal candidate is proactive, resilient, and excels in managing complex production environments with a value-driven mindset.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Provide hands-on leadership in maintaining Java-based applications and microservices.
Drive continuous improvements and operational efficiencies across the support pipeline.
Perform system health checks, maintenance, and enhancement activities for cloud-native applications.
Contribute to technical design and architectural decisions.
Present clear 360-degree views of the support landscape to business and technical stakeholders.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Build and deploy scalable applications using Java (11/17), Spring Boot, and CI/CD pipelines.
Work with event streaming platforms like Kafka and Google Pub/Sub.
Deploy and manage microservices in production
Utilize Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Jenkins for project and version control.
Work during weekends and off business hours as part of support project
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Strong experience with Java 11/17 and the Spring ecosystem.
Demonstrated expertise in incident resolution and production support.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments (GCP preferred).
Working knowledge of Kafka, Pub/Sub, and containerized applications on Kubernetes.
Familiarity with Agile development practices and tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
Exposure to additional cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, etc.).
Knowledge of alternative messaging and event-driven frameworks.
Experience in support-heavy or application modernization/transformation projects.
