Position: Sr. IT Specialist, Audit
Employment Type: Permanent
Compensation Details:
- Audit 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126, 219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, or Montreal.
- Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview:
EDC is seeking an experienced Sr. IT Specialist, Audit who thrives at the intersection of audit and strategic advisory. This role is pivotal as EDC advances its strategic digital roadmap—IT is central to achieving our business objectives. You’ll lead IT audit engagements while acting as a trusted advisor, modernizing our audit approach and embedding data analytics and AI into every phase. Your expertise will help redefine how we deliver assurance—evolving IT audit from a checklist exercise into a strategic advisory function.

- Translate technical risks into actionable business insights
- Build strong relationships and communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences

What you will be doing:
- Modernize audit execution—move beyond compliance to deliver strategic insights that support EDC’s digital transformation.
- Apply a risk-based approach aligning audit priorities with business objectives and emerging threats.
- Lead complex IT audits across cybersecurity, infrastructure, change management, emerging tech, data analytics, and compliance.
- Assess risks and key controls leveraging data analytics and GenAI tools to deliver actionable insights that strengthen security posture, operational resilience, and compliance maturity.
- Build trust with IT stakeholders through collaboration, clear communication of findings, and timely follow-up of action plans.
- Support integrated audits with business teams for seamless, cross-functional engagements.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and audit best practices to ensure audits remain relevant and forward-looking.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of audit methodologies, tools, and quality assurance.
What we are looking for:

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or equivalent experience.

Professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CRISC, CISM, CGEIT).

Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in relevant field.

Strong knowledge of IT platforms, cloud, data lakes, and agile development.

Familiarity with frameworks (NIST, CIS, COBIT, ISO2700x) and IIA standards.
-
Excellent communication skills to present complex risks clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
What will make you stand out:

Experience in IT risk assessments, IT governance or IT architecture in agile or digitally mature environments.

Expertise in cybersecurity, IT security, cloud computing, data governance, and/or emerging technologies.

Hands-on experience with data analytics tools and techniques (Power BI, ACL, IDEA, Python), and GenAI.

Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., RPA) in auditing.

Bilingual (French and English).

A mindset for innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
