About the role

We are currently hiring a Vice President, Information Technology to join our team. This is a hybrid role, located in Toronto or Waterloo, Ontario. The Vice President, Information Technology is responsible for overseeing IT resources in Canada, shaping and executing the overall IT strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate goals as well as driving technological innovation and efficiency.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with business objectives.

  • Drive technological initiatives to support business growth and operational excellence.

  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight for all IT initiatives impacting the Canadian users.

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team of IT professionals.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure development and retention of top talent.

  • Effectively manage performance of consulting resources.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with senior leadership, business units, and external partners to understand IT needs and deliver solutions that drive business value.

  • Oversee the successful delivery of IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

  • Prioritize IT projects based on strategic importance, resource availability, and potential impact on business operations.

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of robust IT infrastructure.

  • Identify emerging technologies, assessing their potential impact on the business and strategically integrating them to maintain a competitive edge.

  • Working with internal and external auditors, ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Align with Corporate to implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard company data.

  • Interact with legal and compliance teams to ensure IT practices align with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with external consulting firms to supplement internal IT capabilities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.

  • Oversee performance and manage SLAs to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and establish mechanisms for issue resolution where needed.

  • Foster knowledge transfer between internal and external teams to build capacity and capabilities.

  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, technology vendors, and consultants to leverage expertise and resources.

  • 20 years of progressive professional experience in operations, strategic leadership or related area.

  • 15 years progressive leadership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field is an asset.

  • Master’s of Business Administration would be an asset.

  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, PMP, or ITIL would be an asset.

  • Experience in leading and mentoring high-performing teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.

  • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and departments.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders across different levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency in guiding organizational change.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Able to make informed decisions in complex technical and business environments.

  • Expertise in managing budgets and allocating resources.

  • Understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and emerging trends.

  • Knowledge of data governance, analytics tools, and strategies to leverage data for business insights.

  • In-depth understanding of the organization’s and industry's trends, challenges, and opportunities.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the company's culture, mission, goals, and organizational structure.

  • Awareness of regulatory requirements relevant to the industry and ensuring IT compliance.
