To support this growth, we are looking to hire a Manager, Enabling Technologies (fixed term contract to 30 June 2027) to join our Mulgrave(Melbourne) site.
The Manager, Enabling Technologies provides leadership strategic and technical initiatives that strengthen manufacturing readiness and design assurance. This includes establishing and advancing metrological processes, optimizing manufacturing processes, and ensuring that procured and manufactured components consistently meet performance and quality requirements. The role also ensures that the site is outfitted with the appropriate systems/tools to support these outcomes. The role will collaborate cross-functionally with design, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to enable robust Incoming Quality Control (IQC), support new product introduction (NPI) and drive continuous improvement across the build process. In this role, a typical day will include:
- Responsible for planning and managing projects to ensure effective utilization of resources and for liaising with appropriate stakeholders to develop and introduce new measurement and inspection processes.
- Responsible for introducing and validating new equipment and/or complex new process projects from design through completion and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for supporting and improving existing processes through metrology-driven process analysis and the application of engineering principles.
- Conducting and/or coordinating tests throughout all stages of production to determine control over applicable variables and troubleshooting/solving production problems.
- Providing guidance to product design engineering on technical specifications, optical drawing standards (ISO 10110), and GD&T, that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
- Ensuring that production processes and procedures follow regulations.
- Project Management of new equipment purchases including capex financial management.
- Detailed Technical Collaboration with internal customers as a champion of best practices in drawings and specifications for mechanical parts, and external suppliers, integrating material specifications into supplier documentation.
- Ensure metrology is fully integrated with design assurance activities, including DFMEA/PFMEA, V&V planning, ECNs, regulatory compliance, and in support of IQ/OQ/PQ activities for Process/Equipment qualification.
PREREQUISITES:
- Essential experience: Strong background in dimensional, cosmetic, and optical metrology, with demonstrated leadership in developing inspection methods and metrology rigs.
- Preferred experience: 5 years’ experience in medical device manufacturing with project management experience. OR: regulated industry experience.
- Preferred experience: Knowledge and experience of optomechanical systems and associated control systems.
- Knowledge of data analysis by statistical methods (e.g. Gage R&R).
- Knowledge and/or experience of automated inspection technology
- Knowledge of process engineering and equipment, automation specification and GMP validation requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 5-7 Years of Relevant Experience
- 3-5 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
- Location: Onsite; Mulgrave VIC Australia
