The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across MaKami facilities. This role supports daily operations by ensuring all public, instructional, and staff areas meet cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards. The Cleaner plays an important role in supporting a positive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities: (Including but not limited to the following)
- Clean, dust, and sanitize ceiling vents, surfaces, counters, furniture, and fixtures
- Sweep, scrub, and mop laminate and tiled floors
- Vacuum carpets and use cleaning equipment as required, including shampooing or stain removal when necessary
- Empty and dispose of garbage and recycling from bins and containers
- Clean and sanitize washrooms, including sinks, basins, toilets, mirrors, and fixtures (public and private)
- Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors
- Ensure all public and common areas are clean, tidy, and presentable at all times
- Maintain, clean, and properly store cleaning equipment and supplies
- Ensure safe, sanitary, and compliant storage and use of cleaning products
- Report maintenance issues, repairs, or supply shortages promptly
Education & Experience
- General knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and cleaning techniques
- WHMIS certification or willingness to obtain
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Strong time management skills with ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to follow established cleaning schedules and procedures
- Physically capable of:
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Reaching, bending, kneeling, and stretching throughout the workday
- Pushing cleaning equipment such as vacuums
- Lifting up to 25–30 pounds
Position Details
- Employment Type: Full Time (Temporary – Maternity Leave Replacement)
- Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm
- Friday: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
