Role Overview For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Process Control.
Application Deadline: October 13, 2025 (we will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis)
Minimum Qualifications: Must currently be enrolled in a recognized and accredited Canadian post-secondary institution throughout the duration of the co-op term. You must also be returning to a post-secondary institution after the co-op term is completed.
Desired Background: For this position, applicable fields of study include Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Metallurgy or Chemical. The successful candidate must possess outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with individuals of a diverse set of technical backgrounds and a motivated self-starter. If you are not currently located in the area of this co-op position, you must be willing to either commute or relocate to the surrounding area for the entire duration of the co-op term. You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Safely and effectively work in an operating industrial plant environment.
- Support upgrading, development and maintenance activities for process control systems.
- Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve our control systems.
- Gather and analyze data to identify key trends, determine root cause and develop solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations to organize, schedule, manage costs, and monitor the progress of projects.
- Day-to-day troubleshooting with an understanding of industrial processes and equipment.
- Process simulation and optimization, and laboratory test work.
- Retain and increase the quality of the current documentation.
Qualifications
- To be eligible for a co-op term with Teck, you must have an interest in Process Control and currently be enrolled in a recognized and accredited Canadian post-secondary institution throughout the duration of the co-op term. Applicable fields of study include Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Metallurgy, Chemical or Mechanical. Candidates in technical diploma, undergraduate or graduate study programs will be considered.
- Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controller hardware, architecture, software and control logic would be an asset.
- Previous work experience in a technical, engineering or process control environment is an asset.
- Being Familiar with drawing programs like AutoCAD and Visio is a must.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite® of applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are a must.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic work environment, with a willingness to work outdoors, and able to operate vehicles in various weather conditions and terrain.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels.
Pay Range: CAD $5,000 - $6,000 per month
