We value a hybrid work environment that blends in‑person collaboration with remote flexibility. As a technical mentor, you can expect to be in the office an average of two to three days per week.
Your Key Responsibilities
DO: Project Delivery
- Serve as Project Technical Lead for water infrastructure projects with responsibility for providing project oversight and leadership
- Provide technical management and leadership for projects in the Eastern/Atlantic region and projects across North America, performing a variety of tasks to plan, execute and deliver the completed project
- Plan, organize, and manage the production of project deliverables for on time delivery, technical quality and within budget
- Perform design for water treatment projects from preliminary design to detailed design, bidding and construction inspection, with consideration for mitigating impacts and constraints due to environmental and permitting requirements.
- Preparation and guidance of engineering calculations, design drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents.
- Preparation of technical reports as technical lead of the project team.
- Prepare, and/or lead the team in preparing, technically substantiated recommendations to address project issues as they arise with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers/vendors, or reviewing agencies.
- Prepare proposals, and contribute to the development of winning strategies, to help secure new work for the team.
- Execute multiple concurrent projects efficiently
- Perform design calculations, write engineering reports, and select design criteria
- Conduct alternative analyses to support business case evaluations for project decisions
- Effectively apply industry standards as well as client standards and requirements
- Work with project teams to coordinate permits for projects, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, utility companies, and reviewing and permitting governmental agencies
- Support industry visibility and business development efforts by participating in conferences, committees, and technical knowledge‑sharing activities, as required and subject to annual budget approval, with engagement prioritized based on business strategy, market conditions, client alignment, and team capacity.
BUILD: Supervise and Mentor Young Professionals
- Mentor developing professionals to guide their career development objectives
- Review team’s work and provide technical guidance on design approach and challenges
- Perform on technically complex projects and act as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members
- Recognize when technical problems develop and initiate guidance for corrective actions
- Provide technical support to the Business Center Practice Leader to further the growth of Stantec’s business
- Conduct work in a safe manner and promote health and safety within the office and outside of the office while visiting clients and job sites
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Leadership
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to build consensus, inspire team performance, and hold teams accountable for delivering innovative treatment solutions.
Technical Expertise
- Experience in the design of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, including process design, plant upgrades, optimization, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with treatment technologies such as filtration, sedimentation, chemical treatment, disinfection, biological processes, and advanced treatment (e.g., membrane systems, PFAS removal, nutrient removal).
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.
- P.Eng license, or ability to obtain licensure within one year.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in water/wastewater treatment project design and delivery.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Pay Range:
- Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$111,700.00 - $167,600.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
