Have you heard of us?

Wesley is a long-standing local non-profit and living wage organization. We are passionate about our work advocating for harm reduction, housing, poverty eradication, and food security in Hamilton, Halton, and Brantford. We’re committed to diversity & inclusion and a healthy work-life balance. We would love for you to join our team!

Are you the one we’re looking for?

We seek a dynamic, highly motivated RAP supervisor to support GARs at the Hamilton and Brantford locations.

Under the Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP), the Government of Canada helps government-assisted refugees (GARs) when they first arrive in Canada by providing direct financial support and funding immediate and essential services. The Wesley RAP supervisor ensures the smooth delivery of the RAP program, including immediate and critical services to clients, generally within four to six weeks of arrival in Canada. These include reception services and temporary accommodation at Wesley Brantford and 467 Main Street locations, assistance locating permanent accommodation, needs assessment and referrals to other settlement programs and community-based services, and information and orientation on financial and non-financial information.

This position is a unionized, full-time, permanent position. The rate of pay is $26.10 per hour. Hours per week are 40.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and coordination of RAP program activities to meet set objectives and goals in consultation with the Program Manager and supervisors.

  • Manage the Resettlement Assistance Program, emphasizing a ‘best practices’ approach to identify improvements to intensive case management and support services for all newcomer families.

  • Assign work and manage staff to maximize utilization of human resources.

  • Verify and approve all timecards by the program budget.

  • Perform regular staff supervision; escalate staff performance issues to the Program Manager

  • Responsible for receiving GAR arrival information, assigning staff, booking/assigning and tracking room usage, ensuring completion of all client orientations, overseeing housing activities, initial health assessments, and family and child programming

  • Conduct program evaluations and submit process improvement recommendations to the Manager.

  • Liaise with other organizations concerning housing and settlement issues

  • Maintain accurate service records and program documentation through regular audits.

  • Identify trends that impact clients in relevant communities

What you will bring:

  • Completed post-secondary education at a College level or higher focusing on social services, immigration, migration, and settlement, adult education, or community health.

  • Three years of supervisory/management experience in a not-for-profit setting is required.

  • Experience working with newcomers to Canada, strong understanding of barriers to social and economic participation

  • Fluency in English and a second language, such as Arabic, Swahili or French, is required.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice.

  • Demonstrated ability to challenge, lead, and inspire others to excel in an environment that fosters innovative problem-solving approaches.

  • Advanced computer skills required in the following programs: Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Adobe; any program database.

  • Ability to receive and meet GARs upon arrival to temporary accommodation at different times of the day/night.

  • A Valid Driver’s License with access to a vehicle would be an asset.

  • Non-violent crisis intervention and 1st aid/CPR training is required.
