The Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and aesthetic maintenance of outdoor areas, ensuring that all grounds are safe, clean, and visually appealing. This role supports the overall functionality and appearance of the property by performing routine landscaping, groundskeeping, and minor maintenance tasks.
Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is required;
- Minimum 2 years of related experience in ground or landscape maintenance is required;
- Must possess a valid G class driver's license.
Other Key Skills & Knowledge
- Perform grounds and landscape maintenance work (i.e. shrubs and plants, trees, lawn, turf, snow removal and salting);
- Operate lawn mowers, trimmers, rototillers, and other ground related equipment;
- Operating a motor vehicle while towing a trailer with equipment;
- Ensuring compliance with safety protocols for all equipment operated;
- Implement environmentally friendly grounds maintenance practices;
- Follow health and safety regulations and guidelines;
- Ability to communicate as a team member with school administration, building services and other staff;
- Proficiency with computer software (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and work order systems);
- Thorough working knowledge of all relevant legislation and regulations (i.e. Building code, municipal by-laws);
- Must have the ability to lift to a maximum of 50 lbs;
- Daily travel throughout the district is required using a Board-provided vehicle;
- All other duties as assigned by the Building Services Coordinator.
Position Effective Date & Length Two positions available. Home location is Sarnia Maintenance.
Permanent, CUPE 12 month, 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day, 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Compensation Level 3 - $26.58/hour - $28.00/hour
Comprehensive benefit package and OMERS pension plan are provided.
