Rotation/Shifts Days, and nights, including weekends, 8 and 12 hour shifts (07:00-15:00, 06:00-18:00, 18:00-06:00)

Salary Information The hourly rate includes a $4.50 market premium.

Responsibilities As a Stationary Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring that all boilers and hospital HVAC systems and their related equipment such as: compressors, diesel generators, etc. are operating in a safe and efficient manner.

What you’ll be doing

As a Stationary Engineer 4th class, you will be required to:

Provide operational and maintenance services to all HVAC systems and their related equipment by performing the following:

  • Perform filter changes on all HVAC systems;
  • Investigate environmental calls;
  • Assist with Preventative Maintenance on all HVAC systems;
  • Develop a yearly schedule of filter changes;
  • Notify trades of any abnormal conditions with HVAC systems;
  • Respond to all fire alarms.

Work in a safe manner by:

  • Observing all requirements of the Operating Engineers act and other operating and safety regulations and codes in effect;
  • Maintaining tools, materials, working area and mechanical rooms ensuring they are clean and in good working condition;
  • Ordering, recording and maintaining an inventory of filters for the entire campus.

Basic Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent;
  • 4th Class Stationary Engineer Certificate Qualification in the Province of Ontario;
  • Knowledge of boilers, HVAC systems and related equipment, operations of mechanical and electrical equipment of a building complex through operations of a building management system;
  • Ability to read schematics and line drawings, use of test equipment;
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Knowledge of WHMIS training and confined space entry;
  • Good written and oral communication skills in the English language.
