We are looking for full-time, Position seeking long-term employment.
About this Position: A Printing Press Assistant’s main function is to assist the Printing Press Operator with the set-up, processing and checking of print jobs. During set up they will be required to collect dockets, prepare sleeves and inks as well as the colour standard. Maintaining a superior level of quality of printed material is essential to meeting and exceeding customer expectations and Tempo’s internal quality expectations.
Printing Press Assistants are to maintain an organized, stocked and clean work area throughout the printing process.
What you would do as a Printing Press Assistant:
- Get dockets for jobs and prepare sleeves, inks and color stands for the next job
- Order required film for a job using TORI
- Check material before loading to ensure we are printing on the correct side
- Obtain set up rolls and ensure wash up solvents are filled
- Confirm sludge tanks have room for wash-ups
- Check aniloxes in the press to ensure color standards are met and get any aniloxes that need to be changed
- Arrange sleeves on the cart to correspond with where they will go in the press
- Place inks in front of the pumps they will need to be connected to
- Upon completion of a job, speedy clean units that need a color change
- Open caps to change the sleeves after racking out the units
- Put drain hose into an empty pail while ink pumping to drain old solvent and ink out of the pump
- Clean aniloxe rollers that come out of the press once the calibration is complete
- Clean ink splashes on sleeve end, return to rack and get the next sleeves and inks
- Calibrate viscosities and check inks to maintain color
- Maintain clean ink trays and rebuild doctor blades when necessary

Requirements (Job Specification)
- Grade 12 education or equivalent preferred
- Basic mechanical skills
- Basic knowledge of math and units of measurement
- Superior time management skills and excellent organization skills
- Experience in the flexographic printing industry would be an asset
FlexLife Schedule
- 12-HR shift, 3 days a week
- Bi-weekly rotation (days/nights)
- 7:00AM to 7:00pm OR 7:00pm to 7:00AM
- Work 36 hours, paid for 40 hours*
- 16 days off a month*

Tempo Flexible Packaging is located just north of Toronto, Ontario. Our newly renovated and expanded 100,000 square foot facility is the foundation for the implementation of HACCP food safety programs.
Our custom, made to order products are supplied directly to manufacturers, food processors and advertisers. We offer full graphics capabilities produced on modern state of the art flexographic printing presses. With over 50 years of proven success, our 100,000 square foot, vertically integrated manufacturing facility is GFSI internationally recognized FSSC 22 000 secure standard, a GFSI recognized certification program. All of our processes, from quotation to invoicing, are fully computerized. This allows us to ensure that all product requirements and documents are accurate and well maintained.
