Position Summary:
Milestone Environmental Contracting Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to assist the water group in the bidding and execution of water management / treatment jobs. A Project Engineer acts as a bridge between project management and technical execution and is responsible for estimates and proposal generation, project tracking including costs, schedule, project coordination, quality, and subcontractor management. The Project Engineer will assist with the creation of technical drawing packages and review of external packages and will support and engage in the startup of systems on site as required.
The Project Engineer will be responsible for smaller job estimates and proposal development as well as assisting PM’s with bid preparations including quotations, technical reviews, drawings, and technical writeups.
All the above will be performed by tapping into your excellent organizational and computer skills, the ability to work independently and meet deliverable deadlines. Travel to customer sites throughout Canada may be required to manage, startup and assist field technicians on water projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Estimates and proposal development for smaller water treatment/management jobs.
- Project Execution tasks including system design, technical drawings, BOM creation, parts selection and ordering, system troubleshooting.
- Commissioning and startup of water treatment projects or management of onsite technicians.
- Project Planning and Coordination tasks including subcontractor and vendor management, cost management, scheduling, technical reviews, reports and contract submittals.
- Assist in bid preparations with technical reviews, quotations, estimating, drawings and technical writeups.
- Business Development – establish and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, fabricators and suppliers.
- Safety and Compliance – Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed and projects comply with environmental regulations.
- Equipment Management – Assist in management of owned equipment, repair and maintenance programs, end of job and pre-job checklists.
Health & Safety:

Follow and support MECI’s Corporate Health and Safety Program and procedures;

Participate in Health and Safety initiatives as required.
Education Requirements:
- Undergraduate Engineering/Science degree or equivalent strongly preferred.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 5 years experience in a related field.
- Experience with design and operations of water treatment systems.
- Experience with basic water management equipment, pumps, hoses, tanks, etc.
- Project Coordination / Project Management.
- Commissioning and startup of water systems.
- Creation of P&IDs, BOM, controls logic, process flow diagrams.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Water treatment technology. Competence and understanding of filtration, reverse osmosis, ion exchange, clarification, coagulation/flocculation, pH control, adsorption, and other standard treatment technologies, equipment and processes.
- Engineering drawings, P&IDs, control logic, plot plans, process flow diagrams, single line electrical.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and remotely.
- Ability to coordinate multiple, often competing, tasks and timelines.
- Comfortable working and collaborating with all levels of the organization.
- Strong Computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft suite, specifically Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Keen to take on challenges and contribute to the success of the team and company.
Work Environment:
Milestone has multiple office locations in BC (Langley) and Ontario (Cambridge, Peterborough, Ottawa) and would consider a remote work environment for the right candidate.
Travel to client sites throughout Canada will be required.
