About the job
As part of the Child and Parent Resource Institute (CPRI) team, your work as a Groundskeeper will play a key role in maintaining the grounds and supporting building upkeep. Your tasks will include:
- Performing seasonal groundskeeping tasks such as lawn care, snow removal, and leaf collection
- Operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment and vehicles
- Assisting with minor repairs and maintenance of buildings, fences, signs, and roadways
- Supporting tradespeople with semi-skilled tasks in plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical work
- Planting, pruning, and designing flower beds and landscaped areas
- Ensuring safety and cleanliness of walkways, parking lots, and external areas
What you bring to the team
Groundskeeping and Maintenance Knowledge and Experience
- You understand horticultural practices, including planting and caring for trees, shrubs, and flowers
- You are comfortable using and maintaining equipment like tractors, lawn mowers, weed-eaters, and snow removal tools.
- You can handle herbicides and maintenance materials safely and responsibly.
- You can tackle basic repairs and support tradespeople with tasks like painting, carpentry, and plumbing.
- You can follow safety standards, including WHMIS and environmental regulations, to keep the workplace safe.
Problem-Solving Skills
- You can recognize safety and security issues and take prompt action.
- You can choose the right tools and methods to complete grounds maintenance work.
- You can identify when something needs fixing and let the right people know.
Communication Skills
- You respond professionally to requests and work well with staff and tradespeople.
- You can write clear reports, keep logs, and request materials when needed.
Planning and Organizational Skills
- You manage your time well and keep tasks on track.
- You work independently and follow regular schedules for equipment checks and maintenance.
- You pay close attention to detail and take pride in doing things right.
