Position Summary
- Assists surgical team with patient positioning, transfer and holding of limbs during surgery
- Ensures equipment, supplies and beds are available for cases as directed
- Performs housekeeping duties during changeover of rooms
- Cleaning and partial reprocessing of surgical instrumentation/equipment
- Assists with ensuring patient safety by identifying equipment problems and/or hazards on the unit
- Organization and restocking of different areas
- Works in compliance with the occupational health and safety act
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (or equivalent related skills and experience)
- Personal Support Worker and/or other appropriate related Health Care Certificate preferred
- Completion of ORA or CSAO course preferred
- Current BCLS & First Aid Certificates essential
- Previous Hospital/Health Care experience is required
- Effective written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Must be a self-directed individual with well-developed organizational skills
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
- Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
- Positive work and attendance record is required
Physical Demands
- Frequent walking, standing, reaching, stooping and bending
- Occasional/frequent lifting up to approx. 11.5 kg
- Occasional pushing and pulling up to 17 kg
