AHS has an exciting opportunity for a Rural Acute Care & Emergency Manager at the Innisfail Health Centre, with responsibility for leadership and operational management of Acute Care Inpatients and the Emergency Department. Supporting a dynamic healthcare team to provide care to a diverse patient population living and working in a rural community with a focus on the AHS Patient First and Our People strategies. Accountability for the delivery of high quality, accessible, sustainable, patient and family-focused care in the Innisfail community and area. Strong communication, change management, human resource and budget management skills are essential. As part of the Central Zone Rural Acute Care leadership team, you will support and advance quality improvement, patient care, and staff engagement through strong working relationships, in collaboration with colleagues, staff, community agencies, and regional services. The role is responsible for recruitment and performance management of human resources in a unionized environment. Reporting to the Director, and in partnership with the Site Manager, provides site, staff and program leadership through demonstrated consistency of practice; competence as a leader; commitment to the team; and overall purpose and vision of the portfolio, and the organization. Located on Treaty 7 territory and close to Red Deer, the Innisfail Health Centre serves as a key access point for individuals living around the QEII corridor with an opportunity to support a community in the Ag and Manufacturing industry. Innisfail is a growing community with great recreation like golf, rodeoing, and camping by rivers or Glennifer Lake. Innisfail Health Centre is a full service, 28 bed, acute care hospital with emergency, surgery, palliative and med/surg services. Home care, Long Term Care, Allied Health, Lab and Diagnostic Imaging are also on site.
Description:
The Manager is responsible for leadership, key decisions, monitoring and maintaining clinical standards, ensuring a focus on consistency in the delivery of patient & family centered care and commitment to providing quality services in alignment with AHS values. Key responsibilities include recruiting and selecting staff to meet operational needs, managing staff performance, promoting team development, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with multidisciplinary teams and other departments to achieve organizational goals. The Manager fosters a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure the ongoing evolution of high-quality healthcare through monitoring and evaluating services and coordinating educational or developmental activities for staff such as: orientation, ongoing training, just in time learning, coaching, and mentoring. The Manager will also manage the operating budget, plan and determine the allocation of resources, authorize and control expenditures, and will be accountable for managing resources within the assigned portfolio. The manager will coordinate staffing and clinical activities at the site in accordance with AHS policies and procedures and in collaboration with the Site Manager, other departments and Director.

Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Minimum three (3) years, within the last five (5) years, acute care nursing experience. Minimum one (1) years' experience working in a leadership capacity (i.e.: Clinical Resource Nurse, Team Lead, Clinical Educator, Nurse Clinician).
Active practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
A demonstrated clear pattern of professional development (e.g. continuing education courses).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Progressive experience in a health care environment in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity.
Uses strategic thinking, taking into account long-term goals assessing options and implications.
Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment.
Strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation and commitment to providing long-term quality services.
Experience in collaborating with physicians and other health care professionals.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as demonstrated effective problem solving.
Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
Ability to foster relationships across the organization to further the effectiveness of both the site(s) managed and programs contained within.
Knowledge and understanding of collective agreements and working with a unionized workforce.
Discretion with sensitive situations, data and personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading healthcare teams & providing innovative solutions to complex system issues.
Proven coaching skills to support team members to reach their full potential.
Ability to work hard, have fun & contribute to a dynamic, successful healthcare team.
5 years’ experience in a management role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity.
Strong knowledge of Rural Acute Care, Emergency, Labour & Delivery, Surgical Services & their corresponding complexities.
