MacKay Contracting Ltd. is a progressive, well-established Heavy Civil Construction and Mining Services company with a strong reputation for delivering quality work across Western Canada. We take on a diverse range of projects, from large-scale mining to complex civil construction, and we’re looking for an experienced Loader Operator to help us keep building success.
In this role, you’ll do more than operate machinery — you’ll be a key part of our mission to complete every project safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

Standard schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday — 8-hour shifts.

Occasional overtime may be required depending on project needs, but it’s not expected to be a major part of the role.
What You’ll Do
- Operate a large scale mining loader
- Read the site, understand potential hazards, and maintain constant situational awareness to ensure safety for yourself and the team.
- Interpret hand signals and verbal directions from operators, ground crews, and labourers to coordinate smooth workflow.
- Conduct daily mechanical inspections, complete logbooks, perform minor maintenance and lubrication, and keep your equipment in top shape.
- Perform pre-job hazard analyses (FLHAs) and act proactively to manage risks.
- Pitch in with general labour duties when needed — we’re a team, and we back each other up.
- Complete and submit daily timecards and safety documentation.
What You Bring
-
3–5 years’ experience in Mining or Civil Construction.

Familiarity with safety protocols and a track record of operating equipment responsibly.

Physical capability to handle equipment operation, plus the coordination to manage multiple controls at once.

A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record.

Proven ability to work independently, problem-solve, and communicate effectively — both verbally and non-verbally.

A proactive mindset, positive attitude, and commitment to doing things right the first time.
