TITLE: Environmental Services Worker

POSITION STATUS: Full-time/ Part-time (2 Vacancies)

SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday Rotational Schedule

REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager

The Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (formerly the Bob Rumball Centre for the Deaf) was the first facility of its kind, and for over 30 years has provided the Deaf Community a space without communication barriers. Within this space an educational, independent living, and a social environment for the Deaf has blossomed. From its starting point as a community recreation facility, the Bob Rumball Centre has expanded into offering a range of specialized services to those within the Deaf Community that require support. These include seniors’, those with developmental, physical, health, or mental health issues, infants and young children, and newcomers to Canada. Our mission as an organization is to provide care and opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality of life of those we serve. POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Environmental Services Worker is responsible and accountable for providing and ensuring the provision of a safe, secure, healthy, comfortable and pleasant environment both within the facility and the grounds to promote the wellbeing of each resident.

PRIMARY DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintains a hygienic environment for the residents and staff in compliance with applicable legislation and in accordance with funders’ requirements
  • Provides repairs and maintenance for all equipment including HVAC in any and all parts of the organization
  • Provides a clean, sanitary and hygienic environment in housekeeping, laundry, maintenance and the entire facility
  • Assists with Housekeeping Services
  • Assists with maintenance services by working together with the Environmental Services team
  • Participates in quality management program

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of Grade 12
  • Possess at least 3 years of related work experience
  • American Sign Language (ASL) and/or knowledge of Deaf culture is an asset
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools
  • Basic understanding and/or experience with operation of plumbing and electrical systems
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Has completed or is in the process of completing the Environmental Services Level I Course developed by the Ontario Hospital Association and the Ontario Health-Care Housekeepers’ Association
  • Possesses or is willing to obtain Occupational Health and Safety Certifications
  • Knowledgeable about WHMIS
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities
  • Respects the goals, philosophy and objectives of the organization
  • Strong English skills, both written and oral
  • Position may transfer to different locations based on business needs
  • French language/LSQ an asset
