NVIT anticipates a need for one Accounts Receivable Clerk/Cashier at the Merritt Campus and invites applications from qualified candidates. This will be a full-time support staff position expected to commence when a suitable candidate becomes available.

Job Summary:

The Accounts Receivable Clerk/Cashier is responsible for all accounts receivable, cash control and reconciliation functions at NVIT. This individual is also responsible for cashier services at the Merritt campus and provides guidance on cashier services at either campus location. The Clerk will report to the Manager, Finance and Ancillary Services and will work closely with other finance team members including, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Bookstore staff and the Finance Advisor to ensure the institute’s financial activity is conducted and recorded according to generally accepted accounting principles and to meet the Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) standards. Will be requested to work after working hours to meet deadlines, month-ends, and during pre and audit seasons.

  • A relevant two-year diploma with introductory accounting courses and a minimum of three years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well and to work effectively with students, institute employees, sponsors, communities, government agencies and other external contacts in a tactful, courteous and diplomatic manner;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounts receivable business processes;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Considerable knowledge of and expertise with Colleague Finance Accounts Receivable (or a related system), with Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills and experience with SharePoint document storage and retrieval;
  • Knowledge of cash management and audit controls, principles and procedures;
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems and document solutions;
  • Ability to work and problem-solve independently;
  • Practice from a holistic, culturally safe and trauma-informed lens:
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for Indigenous languages and cultures, and Indigenous lived experiences;
  • Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships to achieve outcomes in the best interest of students and NVIT;
  • A demonstrated commitment to quality service to students and the public;
