Could you be the full-time Safety Assurance Manager in Toronto, ON we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your safety assurance expertise in a transformative and cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dynamic, collaborative, and forward-thinking teammates.

You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of safe and reliable solutions for one of Canada’s most impactful public transit projects. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (engineering, testing & commissioning, and project management), coordinate safety assurance activities, and manage safety reviews, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of defining safety plans, managing hazard logs, and building safety reports, but also defending safety cases and driving safety-related action plans.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Coordinating all Safety Assurance activities on the project, system, or product as per defined safety processes
  • Performing safety analyses, managing hazard logs, and reviewing RAM, cybersecurity, and V&V activities from a safety perspective
  • Defining safety plans and managing associated workloads and planning
  • Supporting tenders and/or RC teams to integrate products/systems into projects
  • Building safety reports and/or safety cases
  • Applying safety assurance methodologies, including risk acceptance criteria, safety analysis, and validation
  • Organizing and attending periodic safety reviews
  • Defending safety case arguments with internal and external assessors
  • Managing safety assurance engineers involved in the project (if applicable)
  • Leading safety issue resolution processes using 8D methodology

  • Advanced university or engineering degree
  • Experience or understanding of system, electrical, electronics, or electromechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of CENELEC standards for safety or equivalent standards (e.g., AREMA, IEEE)
  • Familiarity with safety methodologies and concepts/principles
  • A minimum of 10 years of successful experience in safety assurance, including at least 2 years in the railway industry
  • English proficiency in reading and writing technical documentation
  • Structured and organized approach to work
  • Proactive behavior with a sense of anticipation and urgency
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Resilience under pressure and ability to manage last-minute deliverables
  • Strong decision-making skills, including the ability to say “no go” when needed
  • Training capability in safety assurance

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $110,000 – $140,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
